Hi there,
we sell the XG10 and I would obviously be very happy if you buy one, but unlike all the sellers out on the web and in the fitness stores, our first worry is the customer.
The limit of the Vibration Devices or platforms are the transmission of the vibrations to the ground and the power of the vibration to push the miotactic reflex to the body.
Weak vibration machines has nothing to do with vibration training, just some peripheral tissue local massage, so you should be very very careful in your purchase.
That is the reason why PRO machines are so heavy. They have a big mass below the vibration device as countermeasure to not propagate the vibes.
Talking of 120kg machines 250lbs.
XG10 is one of the most silent machines around.
There is an exception: Galileo Advanced is one of the most powerful and light machine (35kg 80lbs +-) and the ground trasmission is nothing, when you train you can compare to a washing machine vibration to the ground because the body make some unbalance.
To avoid ground transmission vibration you should stay on PRO machines like the Galileo Fitness which has a huge double flywheel inside to balance the vibes transmission. If you put the hand on the floor at its maximum, you feel nothing. However if you train with a real heavy person on it and he don't bend the knees enough you will have a certain transmission to the ground.
Maybe the iTonic on air suspensions is better in the uniform plates segment. (Vibrogym powerplate globus hypergravity)
Now, putting a dampening mat between the ground and the plate don't work out the problem. I try and the effect is too small to say "good".
Consider that if you damp the machine you will get less intensity to the body. You should put a real heavy mass below the machine, and this mass should be insulated from the ground.
I live at the 3rd floor and I have a Galileo Advanced at home. I train every day and no one has nothing to say. 10 minutes.
If you get a toy machine you will have to train for 30 45 minutes to achieve something so maybe you will have to deal with the neighborhoods... yeah.
So best if you put the machine on the ground floor. Except you have a real good PRO machine.
